  1. Interesting graphic, although the small words are totally illegible. Do I understand that the most popular subject matter is fotoLibra itself? Or am I being too literal?

  2. Alan Myers says:

Any chance of seeing a similar treatment of the data for the top selling categories on fotoLibra?

    Alan

  3. Gwyn Headley says:

Nice idea, Alan, although I can’t see any way it could be done other than manually. I will start to accumulate the data and perhaps you will see the results in six months or so.
But if we sold say 100 photographs for one book to an aviation publisher during that time, the results would be so skewed as to be meaningless.
Trevor, you were always far too literal. I’ll send you a scaleable PDF which you can enlarge to your heart’s content so you can read the (formerly) illegible stuff. As every image has fotoLibra running through it, of course it’s the most frequently appearing word on the site. And of course there’s the small matter of branding.

  4. Very useful blog, thank you Gwyn,

I like the “Such as…” list very much!
    Thanks for this info Gwyn!
    Martyn

  5. Frances says:

It would also be great to list the subjects you really need photos for (unless that is the list above!)

Also you could let us know the most popular selling by limiting them to per customer sales – i.e. in your example above of a book on aviation – you could list that as only 1 sale – (i.e. where the category is the same – airplanes) So if the a customer was looking for different categories they would count as separate sales – per category again – see – I think it would work! Always assuming it is not a Herculean task

  6. This is a wonderful idea, and I find the less featured subjects very useful to know about as this will be the focus of my spare time in the near future. Something also very handy would be how much each photo will sell for attached to each photocall if that is possible. In the past a few of the photocalls have had a price along with the images needed and this has been excellent. Is there any chance to include prices for future photocalls?
I also think the Streetscapes Portfolio(s) is/are a fabulous addition to the fotoLibra offerings.
In all aspects this is a great post; thank you kindly,
    Scott

  7. Jim Walker says:

I like the idea of a list of say, the best selling (or the most sold) subject for the last 12 months. Or, how about the most sought after subjects for the previous 12 months. I know it is tough, and I don’t think anyone would hold your feet to the fire for missing something. We continue to shoot, and continue to upload our images. I just wish sales would come a little faster. But then so do we all.

  8. Julian Coward says:

very usefull and interesting list, i like the coloured graphic scale which i have printed to remind me,
thanx Gwyn. ….. ps i must try harder to upload some images especialy now i find myself out of work again, whoopie time for photography !

  9. It’s a shame that you offer advice that we can’t actually read.

  10. Martyn Franklin says:

    Stephen,

Do you mean the image is too small to read?
If so, click the image to open it in a new window and you will find the whole image is scalable so you can make it as BIG as you need to to read all those little titles.
    HTH,

  11. Pene Kelleher says:

Have a renewed interest now so how about key-wording each subject ?!

  12. Jeanette says:

Thanks for the list, it does help a lot.
